NOTICE of Booby Island Regatta and Sailing Festival 30th April to 1st May 2017

Booby Island Regatta invites you to compete in the 8th Booby Island Regatta. The Organising Authority is Starboard Bearing Ltd affiliated with the Nevis Yacht Club. The Regatta Headquarters will be located Nevis Yacht Club, Oualie Beach , Nevis. Times are St Kitts and Nevis Standard Time (UTC minus 4 hours).

1. RULES

1. 1. The Regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2013 ­- 2017.

1.2 The Regatta will also be governed by ASW Minimum Safety Requirements.

2. ADVERTISING

2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and provided by the Organising

Authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The Regatta will be held for the following classes which may be subdivided:

(a) Monohull;

(b) Bareboat;

(c) Liveabroard

(d) Racing

(c) Multihull.

3.2 Boats can enter online at www.BoobyIslandRegatta.com.

3.3 Entries will be accepted up to 9am on Saturday, May 1st 2017.

Entries after that day and time may be accepted at the sole discretion of the Organising Authority.

3.4 The Organising Authority reserves the right to amalgamate, cancel, divide, sub­divide or rearrange classes at its sole discretion.

3.5 All boats shall have a minimum of two (2) crew at all times duringracing.

3.6 All entries must declare their sail configuration at Registration

3.7 All competitors will be required to complete a waiver provided by the Organising Authority prior to the start of racing.

4. FEES

4.1 For all classes the entry fee will be: $75 USD if paid before the 30th April 2017. After that date the amount will be $125 USD.

4.2 Entrants are requested to pay entry fees by Visa or MasterCard online at www.BoobyIslandRegatta.com. Alternatively, entry fees can be paid in person at the Nevis Yacht Club. Cheques or payments not honoured will be subject to a fee of US $100 plus any levied bank charges.

5. REGISTRATION

5.1 Registration is mandatory for all entrants including bareboats and will take place as stiplulated on the website www.boobyislandregatta.com

6. IDENTIFICATION

6.1 All boats are required to provide their sail numbers before the close of Registration.

6.2 All boats without sail numbers will be required to carry bow and/or stern numbers for the purpose of identification. These will be supplied at Registration and a refundable cash deposit of US $50 will be charged to all boats requiring bow and/or stern numbers.

7. SCHEDULE

7.1 For all classes racing will take place as follows:

• • Sunday 30th April, 2017

• • Monday 1st May 2017

7.2 The warning signal for the first race on each day will not be before 9am.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

8.1 Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration and online at www.BoobyIslandRegatta.com prior to Registration.

10. COURSES

10.1 All courses will be located in the waters surrounding the coastlines of St Kitts and Nevis and will be around laid marks or point to point courses.

2. 2. 10.2 There may be variation in courses and distances for different classes.

11. INTERNATIONAL JURY AND PENALTIES

11.1 An International Jury will be appointed of at least three wise men or one woman.

11.2 Decisions of the International Jury will be final.

11.3 Protest will be permitted but may have to stand on a beer crate or soap box.

13. PRIZES

13.1 There will be some. Awarded on Monday 2nd May

14. INSURANCE

14.1 Boats are strongly advised to hold Third Party Liability Insurance valid for the duration of the Regatta.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

15.1 Competitors participating in Booby Island Sailing Festival do so entirely at their own risk. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Regatta.

15.2 Entrants must draw the attention of their crew to this disclaimer before the start of racing.
